I now tried to get money from our fund for a paper that will appear in <em>Language.<\/em> But I had to learn that the DFG finances fees for Open Access journals only. The journal may not be subscription-based and hence Springer&#8217;s Open Choice and the model of <em>Language<\/em> where authors may pay $400 to turn there paper into an OA paper are not supported. (see <a href=\"http:\/\/www.fu-berlin.de\/sites\/open_access\/dienstleistungen\/publikationsfonds\/voraussetzungen\/index.html\">conditions<\/a>) So this seems to amount to a support for OA journals with optional APCs.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>In an earlier comment to a post by Frank I mentioned that a lot of German universities have funds for author pays models.
